Our first day on the Alpine Bike Route with cows and other bikers.

Shortly before 5 o'clock in the morning we left home to catch the first train in Bern via Zurich to Engadin. Until Zurich we could still sleep on the train. From Zurich to Landquart we shared the carriage with two participating groups of the Yodel Festival in Davos. Unfortunately, the result of their warm-up exercises did not quite correspond to our musical taste :-) From Landquart to Scuol we could enjoy the journey again in peace.

In Scuol we then started with the tandem. The climb to S-Charl was ideal for warming up, as most of it was still asphalted and the gradient was moderate.

Horses, which made a supply & disposal break in front of the first restaurant, made us choose the second restaurant, where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch.

After lunch the road became steeper and worse. Somehow most of the top equipped bikers (of course with luggage transport) were not really faster than us.

After an alp the way became really besch** (The cows blocking the way partly had done a great job)...

When we then reached the pass da Costaines, we saw some astonished faces...the probably had not expected that we create that. When we took a break there, we saw that some were pushing their bikes where we were still riding.

On the long descent to Tschierv we then had partly up to 24% slope, something quite new for us.

Thanks to the early arrival in Tschierv, we could catch up on sleep before dinner.
